PROCESS

Joinery & Bespoke Cabinetry

  • 1. EXPLORATION

Bespoke Cabinetry is a very involved process between client and provider, and the first step is about exploring whether this is a good fit. The questions below are worth considering while you enquire:

    - Does this project need to be made bespoke?

    - Do you want to commission a project that reflects precision, quality and care as a priority over a fixed timeframe?

    - Do you value a collaborative process with clear and respectful communication?

    - Are you open to working with the natural flow & timing of the project?

    - Are your expectations clear, and are you comfortable discussing them openly?

The aim of this step is to see if I am the right provider for you, and to establish whether this project will work.

  • 2. QUOTE

A quote can be provided from rough measurements, an idea of style or finish, and any particular features that are required.

For bespoke cabinetry, a rough base price is €1,930 incl. VAT per linear wall metre (total width of units).

Specialist joinery & hardware are added to this as needed.

For joinery projects outside of cabinetry, the cost is worked out by listing materials and estimating timeframes for each process involved. This process takes time.

Once a quote is supplied & agreed the next step is a Booking Deposit. This places the project into my next open slot and we begin the Design phase.

  • 3. DESIGN

The length of this phase largely depends on the level of clarity that we can achieve together. The better the fit, the clearer we will be.

This is a closed phase, meaning that timeframes and manufacture methods remain open & unconfirmed until the design is complete.

Once all details have been confirmed, we have an agreed scope of work.

Materials are ordered upon receipt of the Manufacture Deposit.

  • 4. MANUFACTURE

Drawings and design are now complete and the project is being brought to life.

Everything is cut, joined, pre-assembled and checked in the workshop before finish or paint is applied.

Carcasses are then disassembled and packed; painting and finishing now takes place.

Changes during this time are very disruptive and normally mean a new scope of work and quotation.

  • 5. INSTALLATION

All materials and hardware are delivered to site and installed with care, one section at a time.

Easy access to the space is necessary. Keys & timing are worked out in advance.

Walls, plumbing and electrical grounds need to be in the correct position before installation.

Close communication during this time is helpful for any issues that arise.

The remaining balance is due at the outset of this phase.

  • 6. WALK-THROUGH

Everything is installed to the agreed spec.

We review the finished product together and reflect on the process in bringing your project to life.

Care tips are provided to maintain the cabinetry’s beauty and function.

Photographs are taken of the joinery in place.

I hope that we work together again.

CNC Cut Components

  • 1. ENQUIRY

Get in touch with details of what you need custom-made.

A drawing or picture is necessary, this doesn’t need to be fancy but it does need to be clear.

Highlight the critical measurements, angles or features required for each component.

Also mention the application it is being used for; there may be aspects that can optimised for your needs.

  • 2. QUOTE

The cost of machining is calculated from the time involved in programming & cutting, plus materials ex VAT.

For some items a CAD/CAM drawing is necessary to complete in order to provide a quote. This can take time.

    VAT is added at 23%.

  • 3. MANUFACTURE

Drawing and programming is underway, toolpaths are run and checked.

Your components are now being made!

Collection or delivery is worked out when everything is ready.

Please check the component(s) immediately upon receipt.
